Annual Giving Campaign
Launched in 2007, Philadelphia Dance Theatre’s Tuition-Free Boys Program was created to make high-quality ballet training accessible to boys in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburban communities. The program removes financial barriers so that boys from all income levels can participate fully in classical ballet training — from their first pre-ballet class through the pre-professional level.
The program enhances athletic skill, flexibility, strength, coordination, and focus, all while introducing dancers to the discipline and artistry of ballet. Ballet builds core strength and body awareness that support every physical activity — from soccer and track to musical theater and beyond. PDT recognizes the unique energy and learning style of boys, and provides a structured, encouraging environment that nurtures both their confidence and their work ethic.
As students progress, they develop male-specific technique, including powerful jumps, turns, and eventually partnering skills — preparing them for college-level dance, professional training programs, or careers in the arts.
Students in the Tuition-Free Boys Program also participate in performance opportunities, including roles in A Philadelphia Nutcracker and our annual spring production. These experiences build stage presence, teamwork, and pride in achievement.
