SUPPORTING PDT
As a 501(c)3 organization Philadelphia Dance Theatre relies on the support of our generous donors and grants. Dance training and productions are costly in nature and tuition and ticket sales do not cover all the expenses associated with PDT’s productions and training. An integral part of PDT‘s mission is to make dance accessible to the community through education and performances. Contributions to PDT make a significant impact on our ability to offer scholarships, employ artists and create new venues for our dancers to perform.

Patrick Carroll Delaney Memorial Scholarship
Patrick Delaney became a dance enthusiast from his unwavering support of his own daughter Joy’s aspirations. He drove her to class daily, made sure she had pointe shoes and most importantly supported and understood the process. Upon his retirement to keep busy he cleaned and did various jobs around the PDT studio. He loved the energy of the children and delighted in their accomplishments. He would often comment on the character building results he saw in the young dancers who dedicated their time to training and was encouraged by the discipline. Growing up as an orphan, he inherently understood the value of an extended hand to help reach one’s aspiration.
To honor Patrick Delaney’s unwavering support of PDT and to offer a chance to children who would not otherwise have the opportunity the “Patrick Carroll Delaney Memorial Scholarship” was created in August of 2007. Annually, a scholarship is awarded to various students age 12-18 who demonstrate a financial need, talent and willingness to comply with the obligations of PDT and covers one academic year of class.
Bob Klein Memorial Scholarship
Ayne Klein, a former teacher and avid supporter of PDT, created a scholarship in 2001 to honor her late husband’s memory. Each year in late June the “Bob Klein Memorial Scholarship” is awarded and funds two full scholarships to the PDT Summer Intensive. To qualify you must be a student with PDT for at least three years and show a strong dedication to a professional career.
