CLASSES

Young Children’s Division

Pre-Ballet 1 (ages 3-4) Gross motor and listening skill development are a primary focus through movement games and imaginative play.

Pre-Ballet 2 (ages 4-5) Gross motor, listening skill development along with rhythm and coordination are a primary focus through movement games, imaginative play, are alternated with structured activities.

Pre-Ballet 3 (ages 5-6) Basic Ballet terminology and positions are introduced; gross motor skills, rhythm, coordination are enhanced and creative interpretation are explored.

Boys Dance - this all male class is designed especially for the energy of young boys, taught by a male instructor and is offered in a beginner and intermediate levels.

Ballet Technique Primary Division (7 years and up)

Classes are offered in Levels 1-6 to best meet the needs of the individual student. Students are placed in a class according to their level of advancement. Pointe and pas de deux are added when technical strength develops and at the instructor’s discretion. An (X) denoted by a Level which means it is the second year of that particular level.

Each level requires a minimum number of weekly class hours. The hours are determined by the demands of classical ballet training which ensures physiological conditioning and proper development. Not all students will advance in exactly the same way, but requiring a minimum amount of hours helps to keep the class on a steady progression of the syllabus. A dancer may not perform with PDT unless they are taking the required minimum of hours for their particular level and meet the required hours of summer study.

Ballet 1 (1.0 hours weekly)
Ballet 2 (2.0 hours weekly)
Ballet 2x (2.5 hours weekly)
Ballet 3 (4.5 hours weekly)
Ballet 3x (5.0 hours weekly)
Ballet 4 (6.0 hours weekly)
Ballet 4x (7.0 hours weekly)
Ballet 5 & 6 (9.0 hours weekly)


Modern, Jazz and Hip-hop

These dance techniques are truly American art forms which help to increase expression, flexibility and dynamic to the training dancer’s technique. These supplemental techniques will add variety to your ballet regimen increases awareness which will enhance self confidence. These classes are offered in a variety of levels.

Adult Classes

Specified classes meet weekly in Ballet and Jazz. Adults may attend Primary Division classes if they wish.
